The alpha female of the Wapiti Lake pack, the only remaining white wolf in Yellowstone, moves in to feed on the carcass of a bull elk killed by the pack a day or two earlier. I was fortunate to see members of this pack on two different occasions as they gathered near this kill, and that of a young bison earlier in the week. The alpha female of the Wapiti Lake pack, the only remaining white wolf in Yellowstone, moves in to feed on the carcass of a bull elk killed by the pack a day or two earlier. I was fortunate to see members of this pack on two different occasions as they gathered near this kill, and that of a young bison earlier in the week. As a lover of all things wild, and as a photographer who has never photographed wolves in the winter at close range, this was undoubtedly one of the most exciting wildlife experiences of my life.
