The alpha female of the Wapiti Lake pack, the only remaining white wolf in Yellowstone, moves in to feed on the carcass of a bull elk killed by the pack a day or two earlier. I was fortunate to see members of this pack on two different occasions as they gathered near this kill, and that of a young bison earlier in the week. As a lover of all things wild, and as a photographer who has never photographed wolves in the winter at close range, this was undoubtedly one of the most exciting wildlife experiences of my life. And to top it off, it was a privilege to share it with a few like-minded friends. As always, thanks for looking! January 2018.
